Biography
Who is Charles-Antoine Gagné?
Sport plays a significant role in my life, both personally and professionally. For several years, I have dedicated my free time to triathlon, dek hockey, and hiking. These activities not only provide me with balance but also allow me to better understand the challenges my patients may face in their daily lives or in their athletic journeys. A big sports fan in general, I am interested in most of the sports that captivate the public, such as hockey, football, soccer, and tennis, to name just a few. This curiosity allows me to easily connect with the people I meet, whether they are elite athletes or simply sports enthusiasts.
Outside of sports, I am also passionate about nature. Traveling the world and discovering new landscapes inspires me greatly, as does gardening with the first signs of spring. These activities provide me with a sense of balance that is reflected in my practice: listening, caring, and helping my patients rediscover the joy of movement.
Education and Professional Skills
I have been working as a physiotherapist at Action Sport Physio Valleyfield since 2023. I completed my Master's degree and the Entrepreneurial Profile in Physiotherapy at Université Laval in 2022. Prior to these studies, I completed two years of occupational therapy, training that allows me to adopt a holistic and patient-centered approach in my current practice.
Since graduating, I have been certified to prescribe X-rays when certain clinical criteria are met. In 2025, I also obtained certification from the Running Clinic, enabling me to assess and treat injuries specific to runners. In my daily practice, I prioritize a science-based, functional, and patient-centered approach to actively involve my patients in their rehabilitation.
Here is an overview of my certifications:
- X-ray Prescribing (2022): Prescribing X-rays when a fracture is suspected following a traumatic event that occurred within the last 72 hours.
- Structural Myofascial Therapy Level 1 (2024): Learning manual therapy techniques aimed at releasing fascia for the treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions.
- Running Injury Fundamentals by The Runner's Clinic (2025): Assessing the biomechanics of a runner's gait and providing specific treatments for this type of patient.
