Rachel Desjardins

Who is Rachel?

I am a passionate physiotherapist who, since 2016, enjoys working alongside people on their journey to better health and achieving their wellness goals. I am a proud wife and mom who loves to go on walks, eat delicious food and spend time with those closest to me. Singing, dancing, baking, and obviously eating baked goods are among some of my favourite things to do in my free time. One of my goals is to visit at least one country on every continent. My dream is to leave a legacy of love and kindness. I want future generations that will surround me to know that helping ​​others was one of the pillars of my heart.

Training and professional skills

I graduated from McGill University in 2015 with a Masters in Physical Therapy. I also have a Bachelors from McGill in Rehabilitation Science (2013) and a Bachelors in Kinesiology (2010).

Here is an overview of my certifications:

• MCKENZIE LEVEL A (LUMBAR SPINE) AND LEVEL B (CERVICAL SPINE): Treatment approach that helps individuals recover from musculoskeletal pain by focusing on self-management, movement and prevention
• MANUAL THERAPY LEVEL 1: Training in assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders through hands-on therapeutic techniques
• APTEI (ADVANCED PHYSICAL THERAPY EDUCATION INSTITUTE): Evidence-based post-graduate clinical orthopedic education courses including the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, pelvis, sacroiliac joint, hip, knee, ankle, foot, and TMJ joint.
• TMJ REHABILITATION: Series of courses taken to evaluate and treat pathologies related to the tempero-mandibular joint (jaw)
• VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION: Series of courses taken to evaluate and treat various causes of dizziness and vertigo, such as BPPV, PPPD and labyrinthitis.
