Helga Tonkov Physiotherapy Technologist (Physical Rehabilitation Therapist)

Helga graduated from the Physiotherapy Technology program at Dawson College in 2020. She has had experience working with various age groups, conditions and clientele during her studies and internships. She has an opportunity to volunteer for the McGill Outreach Program while representing the physiotherapy field to high school students and participating in the fall prevention events for seniors. She has developed her professional skills working with orthopaedic, geriatric and neurological populations during her clinical and work placements. Her background as a massage therapist has been very helpful in establishing rapport and personalized treatment with her clients in public and private sectors. Helga had been working closely in the neurological rehabilitation research applying the physiotherapy expertise to assess and treat the participants with spinal cord injuries, post-stroke and other neurological affects. She has been working with the internal medicine patients in post-operation, cardiorespiratory and palliative care units. Helga strives to lead an active lifestyle, being passionate about resistance training, martial arts and dance. She believes in the injury prevention through exercise and in the holistic approach to patients’ treatment.
