Sports Osteopathy, for musicians and artists

At your service

Osteopathy is a manual approach designed to help the body regain internal and external harmony. It is based on anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. During a session, the osteopath uses different approaches to mobilize and enable better movement of the whole body. These include articular, visceral, cranial and myofacial techniques, to name but a few.

When practicing a sport, playing a musical instrument or performing on stage, whether you're a beginner or an experienced musician, the body is called upon more or less intensely, resulting in imbalances, discomfort and loss of mobility. For athletes, musicians or artists, this imbalance manifests itself in a variety of symptoms ranging from simple aches and pains to chronic discomfort, in all cases altering performance and progress.

Poor posture, prolonged standing and repeated falls can in some cases lead to discomfort and misalignment.

Osteopathy helps to maintain assiduity in sports, music or stage activities by protecting the body's biomechanics and reducing the risk of recurrence of these imbalances, discomforts and fatigability. There's no need to wait for these imbalances to take hold. Osteopathic treatment can intervene preventively to control misalignments and lack of mobility in the body. Then as a follow-up to prevent the accumulation of imbalances and discomfort. Or as an emergency treatment in the event of injury.

Don't wait for injury; consult for prevention and follow-up.

If your doctor, sports physician or specialist has talked to you about, or diagnosed, any of the following conditions, osteopathy can help:

  • Disorders of the cervical, dorsal or lumbar vertebrae.
  • Sciatic nerve disorders
  • Sprain
  • Fracture
  • Tendonitis
  • Tears, strains, strains
  • Migraines and headaches

WE REMIND YOU THAT AN OSTEOPATHIC CONSULTATION CANNOT REPLACE FOLLOW-UP AND DIAGNOSIS BY A DOCTOR, PEDIATRICIAN OR SPECIALIST, ALL OF WHOM ARE ESSENTIAL.

Pediatric Osteopathy: for infants, adolescents and young adults

Hand in hand

Pediatric osteopathy has many benefits, whether as a preventive measure or in response to a specific problem. In the early stages of life, your child's body is constantly evolving. After 9 months or so in an aquatic environment, he's arrived in an aerial environment where he has to learn everything all over again. All his senses are called upon. Whether it's a first birth or a third, it's always a new adventure for both baby and mother.

That's why it's important to take the necessary precautions to ensure that his or her development goes as smoothly as possible.

The goal of an osteopathic consultation for newborns and infants is to restore balance and remove any discomfort that may have arisen during pregnancy and/or childbirth.

During pregnancy, the child assumes different positions as it grows, which can cause discomfort. What's more, during labor, expulsion, the need to use equipment (such as forceps, suction cups, etc.) or even a Caesarean section, the baby's body, and especially its skull, undergoes tension and often needs to be controlled.

A trouble-free birth may have generated cranial discomfort, just as a complicated one may not have. The therapist's hands will guide him/her to better understand the discomforts the child is feeling. Manipulations are always gentle, precise and painless, though sometimes uncomfortable as we treat areas with lesions that present discomfort and restricted mobility. During the session, the infant or newborn may fall asleep or cry. Parents are called upon to help limit baby's apprehension, by talking to him and distracting him. It's even possible to treat the child in the parent's arms. And even when fed.

Problems with the body are rarely due to one particular problem but are often the result of a combination of factors, requiring a global approach. From birth, there is a close association between motor skills, intelligence, affectivity and environment. Falls may often seem harmless, but it's important to monitor them for signs of discomfort. Their bodies are fragile, and the slightest accident can cause them great discomfort.

Osteopathic follow-up should generally take place during the child's growth and sensory-motor acquisition peaks:

During the 1st year of life, generally at : 1 month / 3 months / 6 months / 9 months and 12 months and beyond, depending on individual growth rhythms, environment and activities.

Osteopathy has many benefits throughout a child's development.

If your doctor, pediatrician, dentist or orthodontist has mentioned or diagnosed any of the following conditions, osteopathy can help:

  • Skull asymmetry, plagiocephaly, flat head.
  • Sleep or digestive disorders.
  • Congenital or positional torticollis.
  • Orthodontic follow-up.
  • Sucking or breastfeeding difficulties.
  • Jaw and bite problems.
  • Sleep disorders.

  • Posture problems.
  • Anxiety, stress.
  • Developmental delays.
  • Difficulty crawling, sitting up and sitting down.

Obstetric Osteopathy

Your well-being comes first

Osteopathy is ideally suited to treating pregnant women throughout the various stages of their pregnancy, and even afterwards in the post-partum period, as it can take time for the body to regain its equilibrium. These physical manifestations will differ from one woman to another, and often from a first to a second pregnancy.

If certain parts of your body are already sensitive on a daily basis, pregnancy will bring hormonal and physiological changes that will lead to weight gain, changes in posture and the appearance of discomforts throughout the development of the fetus.

By applying gentle, safe movements to areas of discomfort, the osteopath takes a holistic yet personalized approach (each person is unique and reacts differently to changes) and works on the whole body, reharmonizing it to improve mobility of structures and general circulation, and helping the body to adapt better to ongoing postural and physiological changes and prepare for childbirth.

If your doctor, gynaecologist or obstetrician has mentioned or diagnosed any of the following conditions, obstetric osteopathy can help:

  • Disorders of the cervical, dorsal, lumbar or pelvic vertebrae.
  • Sciatic nerve disorders.
  • Hyperlordosis.
  • Constipation.
  • Gastroesophageal reflux.
  • Respiratory disorders.
  • Migraines and headaches.

Maxillofascial osteopathy

Your well-being comes first

Maxillofacial osteopathy deals with the treatment of discomforts affecting a person's oral cavity and face. The maxillofacial system plays an important role in the functioning of the body. Swallowing, chewing, phonation, posture and breathing are all functions linked to the maxillofacial and cranial systems. A disturbance of the maxillofacial system can therefore be the cause of several discomforts and dysfunctions in the body. This is where the osteopath comes in.

Many of the body's structures are linked to the maxillofacial system. The maxillofacial system is made up of the temporal bone and the auditory canal, at the level of which is articulated the mandible, which supports the lower teeth, and the skull. The skull and temporal bone fit together thanks to a disc called the meniscus. These structures are then supported by muscles and ligaments. Disruption of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) has a considerable impact on the functioning of the maxillofacial system.

An imbalance in jaw tension can lead to discomfort, loss of sensitivity and muscle tension. These symptoms occur when the contraction of the masticatory and jaw muscles is below or above normal. The various structures connected to the masticatory muscles will function incorrectly. Maxillofacial osteopathy helps normalize discomfort in the various structures of the temporomandibular joint. The osteopath will compensate and regulate discomfort in the cervical vertebrae and fascia to normalize posture. The functioning of the jaw, maxillofacial system and masticatory muscles will thus be reharmonized thanks to precise, effective treatment.

If your doctor, pediatrician, dentist or orthodontist has mentioned or diagnosed any of the following conditions, maxillofacial osteopathy can help:

  • Occlusion disorders (problems opening or closing the mouth).
  • Orthodontic follow-up.
  • Cervical or neck problems.
  • Atmospheric disorders.
  • Headaches, migraines.
  • Swallowing disorders.
  • Musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Condyle lesion.
  • Masticatory system disorders.
  • Periodontal disease.
  • Bruxism.
