Biography

Having obtained both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from McGill University in 2019, Kevin Skayem takes pride in employing advanced techniques and methods to help his patients resolve long-standing pains and issues that have previously proven resistant to treatment. Kevin's professional experience includes collaboration with athletes from the Canadian national figure and speed skating teams, as well as those in elite sports such as hockey, soccer, track & field, Ironman triathlons, competitive cycling, marathon running, and football.

Upon completing his university studies, Kevin's thirst for knowledge led him to specialize in various physiotherapy disciplines, including vestibular rehabilitation (addressing vertigo, dizziness, nausea, unsteadiness, and balance), concussion treatment through CCMI (Complete Concussion Management Inc.), advanced biomechanics of the core, upper and lower body, running assessment and training, bike positioning (specifically road bicycles), Mckenzie approach (focusing on cervical and lumbar issues), and KneeKG genougraphie (EMOVI).

Kevin also extends his expertise to working with patients in oncology, developed during his time at McGill University and with neurological patients dealing with various disorders at the Montreal Neurological Institute. This diverse range of experiences has shaped him into a well-rounded and versatile physiotherapist.

With a passion for sports dating back to his early years, Kevin's athletic journey began at the age of 5 in a swimming pool and progressed to provincial levels of track & field, swimming, and soccer. Additionally, he has dedicated numerous years to strength and conditioning in the gym, road cycling in the summer, participating in marathons and half-marathons, engaging in speed and figure skating, alpine skiing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and more recently, golf.

Kevin adopts a client-centred approach with a singular goal: addressing the root cause of the problem. While providing relief through advanced manual therapy, he ensures that his patients achieve long-term independence and freedom from pain through personalized and appropriate exercises.
