Janie Guimond obtained her degree in occupational therapy from the University of Montreal in 2007. She is a member of the Ordre des Ergothérapeutes du Québec (OEQ) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). Passionate about training, she completed her graduate studies in kinesiology before pursuing her greatest passion, volleyball. For 8 years, she was a member of the Canadian National Volleyball Team, representing Canada around the world. After having traveled extensively and having gained a lot of adrenaline from her experiences, she returned to her other passion, occupational therapy.
Her goal is to rehabilitate people as quickly as possible in their living environment, considering all areas of occupational performance, while building a relationship of trust with them and their entourage. She focuses on the management of concussions, the management of several other difficulties (pain, anxiety, emotions, fatigue, sleep), work rehabilitation, the return to normal activities as well as psychosocial integration. In addition to accompanying people with physical injuries, she also helps people with mental health problems (depression, anxiety, etc.). These difficulties can be as incapacitating on a daily basis as a physical injury. She places great importance on involving the person in their rehabilitation and return to a satisfying life.
Janie works in collaboration with the doctor, the insurance company, other professionals and the person's family members. In addition, she offers the possibility of remote follow-up via videoconference (e.g. Skype) or telephone.
