Biography

Who is Mélanie?

My name is Mélanie, I am an occupational therapist, but above all, I am a fulfilled mother who loves to support her children in their daily lives, whether it be encouraging them in their sports activities or simply sharing quality time with the family. Curious and passionate about human beings, I have always been keen to understand what helps each person to flourish and find balance in their lives. In my free time, I like to engage in simple but meaningful activities that nourish both my creativity and my energy. What motivates me most is helping people regain confidence in their abilities and find meaning in their activities. I deeply believe in the importance of listening, kindness, and respecting each person's pace.

Education and professional skills

I have been an occupational therapist since 2009, after obtaining my Master of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Ottawa. My role is to assist individuals in maintaining their independence, well-being, and quality of life, both physically and mentally (CNESST, SAAQ, private insurance). In addition, I offer various specialized services, including functional capacity assessments (FCAs), workplace ergonomics, and driving ability assessments. My background is also enriched by a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from the University of Montreal (2007), which contributes to my overall vision of health and movement.

Here is an overview of my certifications:

  • Assessing and promoting the return to work of individuals absent due to common mental disorders: Individuals with common mental disorders (depression, adjustment disorders, anxiety disorders, etc.) who are absent from work and for whom the ultimate goal of rehabilitation is to return to and remain in work.
  • Certificate in Driver Fitness (McGill): The 18-month advanced training courses for this certificate cover driver rehabilitation at various levels, including screening and assessment of driving abilities.
  • Advanced record keeping: Advanced training in record keeping for occupational therapists focuses on proposing solutions to specific difficulties expressed in reports or notes.
  • Private practice and home-based services: a practical approach: Encouraging reflection to develop the ability to analyze a mandate based on one's own professional competence.
  • The specific role of occupational therapists in functional assessment: Laying the groundwork for demystifying the practice of ECFs.
  • Chronic pain management: Understand the phenomenon of persistent pain and the tools for providing comprehensive care to people in pain.

“Pleasure and hospitality transform rehabilitation into a human experience, not just a treatment.”
