Biography

Who is Katherine ?

My name is Katherine, and I’m a physiotherapist living in Verdun. I first moved to Montreal for school, but quickly fell in love with the city — staying after graduating was an easy decision. Outside of work, I love exploring everything Montreal has to offer: its green spaces, cafés, live music, and vibrant neighbourhoods. Staying active is a big part of my life; in the summer, I enjoy swimming, biking, and running, and I recently completed my first triathlon. In the winter, I like to cross-country ski. I also love cozy game nights with friends and family and watching Formula 1 on the weekends.

Training and professional skills

Since graduating from McGill University with my Masters in Physiotherapy, I have developed my practice in orthopedic and pelvic floor physiotherapy. I enjoy rehabbing athletes and athletic people by using biomechanical analysis, running analysis and functional optimization for sport. Additionally, I have a strong base in manual therapy and taping which I use to optimize and accelerate healing times. I have pursued extensive training in pelvic floor physiotherapy, which is my main interest and specialty. I have successfully treated a wide range of pelvic floor complaints in both men and women from teens to senior citizens. This includes post-cancer treatments and prostatectomy, perinatal care, pain with sex, urinary incontinence and complex chronic pelvic pain.

Here is an overview of my certifications :

  • Pelvic Health Solutions Level 1: Treating People with Urinary Incontinence Developing a specialty in healing urinary incontinence in men and women
  • Pelvic Health Solutions Level 2: Treating People with Pelvic Pain Developing a specialty in healing conditions such as endometriosis, vaginismus, dyspareunia, genitourinary syndrome of menopause and male pelvic pain.
  • Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal (AIM) Level 1 from the Orthopedic Division of The Canadian Physiotherapy Association: Developing a specialty in manual, hands on therapy for the whole body,
  • APTEI Advanced Physical Therapy Lower Extremity Certification Program Developing an expertise in the treatment of the hip, knee and foot.

Helping people feel more confident, and at home in their bodies is what drives me every day.
