Biography

Who is Gabriel Miville-Goulet ?

I am a curious person who enjoys discovering the pleasures of life—whether through culinary experiences, discovering new music, traveling, or cultural outings. Beyond these interests, I pursue a growing passion for triathlon, which leads me to primarily practice running, cycling, and swimming. I also engage in other sports and hobbies such as golf, music, and reading. Through all of this, I have the joy of sharing my life with my significant other, our plants, and our cat, Pêche.

Training and professional skills

In the clinic, I have been working as an occupational therapist since January 2022, following the completion of my degree from the Université de Montréal. I have mainly worked with a musculoskeletal clientele who have experienced workplace or motor vehicle accidents. In addition, I have developed skills in treating patients with hand conditions. Being deeply invested in helping others, I later developed an interest in working with individuals dealing with common mental health disorders. As such, I also practice occupational therapy in the field of mental health, with the goal of supporting patients in maintaining or returning to their work activities.

Here is an overview of my certifications :

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the Treatment of Anxiety Disorders: Understanding stress and implementing gradual exposure as a coping strategy.
  • Motivational Psychology: Exploring the pillars of motivation and how to integrate them to foster engagement.
  • Hand Therapy (Parts 1 and 2): Understanding hand conditions and the therapeutic interventions to address them.
  • Biomechanical Principles: Reviewing the musculoskeletal system and therapeutic activities that promote healthy muscle activation.
  • Workstation Ergonomics: Adjusting and positioning computer workstations for optimal ergonomics.
  • The Occupational Therapist, Functional Limitations, and Functional Restrictions: Understanding legislation, terminology, and the assessment of functional limitations.

"It is when we accept ourselves as we are that we become free to change."
