Preventing Injury during an activity and exercise program


We have established that moderate physical activity and exercise is good for you. Nevertheless it is important to play it safe to avoid injury. Wait at least 1-2 hours after eating a meal. The bigger the meal the longer you should wait and the lower the exercise intensity to begin.
Prior to starting your activity, warm up with gentle range of motion and stretching activities. This helps your muscles get ready for the activity. You can do the same stretching and range of motion activities after you have completed your workout during the cool down period. This will help prevent and/or reduce muscle soreness.
Do not forget to wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the activity or exercise you are doing.
Furthermore, it is important to set realistic goals that are based on your abilities and your health.
